Tour in Cairns: The Atherton Tablelands and Its Natural Wonders

No one remains unmoved by the breathtaking scenery of the Atherton Tablelands, often described as Cairns's mountain health retreat.

Here you can never get enough of the mountain air and the scent of the rainforest, the cool crystal-clear lakes are always refreshing, and the powerful, plentiful waterfalls will invigorate you with their natural hydro-massage.

Hidden among the forested hills is one of Australia's most mystical natural formations - an ancient volcanic crater. A walk along the rim of this vast, deep crater lake will reward you with some truly unique photographs.

The Atherton Tablelands are famous for their high-quality produce. Here nature has created ideal conditions for bountiful harvests of tropical fruit, tea, coffee and nuts.

Many local farms offer visitors their own tasting menus - cheeses, chocolate, tropical fruit wines and many other unusual delicacies.

You will visit and see:

  • a giant curtain fig tree, often called a "cathedral of trees"
  • thousand-year-old kauri trees
  • the historic township of Yungaburra, listed as a National Trust heritage site
  • cascading waterfalls where you can swim
  • crystal-clear lakes for swimming
  • elevated lookout points
  • an ancient crater lake
  • coffee and tea plantations with coffee and tea tastings
  • farms offering tastings of chocolate, cheese, fruit wines and liqueurs

Entrance tickets and lunch are not included in the tour price.
