Brisbane Tour with an English-speaking Guide: The Ancient Volcanic Foothills of the Sunshine Coast

An engaging tour with an English-speaking guide through the ancient volcanic foothills, among forested hills and exotic fruit plantations, with walks through rainforest and a visit to a historic mountain village, the famous Irwin Zoo, or an oceanarium showcasing Australia's unique underwater world

The tour program includes:

  • Drive along a scenic mountain road to Glass House Mountains National Park, with its ancient landscape of 9 closely clustered, extinct cone-shaped volcanoes (70 km from Brisbane)
  • Stops at lookout points with breathtaking views over the Valley of the Extinct Volcanoes
  • Drive along the old road of the first settlers and gold prospectors through the historic town of Landsborough, where buildings from the 19th-century settlement of the east coast have been preserved
  • A walk along well-maintained trails through the ancient rainforest of Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve will leave unforgettable impressions of East Queensland's wildlife. Here you can (with a good chance of success) spot unusual Australian fauna such as rock wallabies, water dragons and goannas (1 hour)
  • Visit the park's Eco Centre, purpose-built to give a deeper insight into the unique nature of the reserve, often called a "living" museum of ancient flora
  • Drive through plantations of tropical fruit (mango, pineapple, avocado) and Australian macadamia nuts
  • Stops in mountain villages, where you can visit art galleries and souvenir shops selling work by local craftspeople

In the afternoon, you can choose from the following options:
